Oschersleben. Racing driver Andreas Pfister was able to successfully participate in the “Eco Grand Prix” as the world’s first race for electric vehicles with a TESLA Model S at the Motorsportarena Oschersleben as early as 2018.
True to the motto “never change a winning team” he was already looking forward to the second edition of the “24H of Germany” on November 29/30, 2019 at the Motorsportarena Oschersleben again.
More than 33 international teams were registered for this 24-hour race, the ultimate challenge which featured electric vehicles from a variety of car manufacturers. TESLA was represented with several vehicles on the starting grid. Klaus Schäfer’s “E-Motion” team, which Andreas Pfister and his team mates were behind the wheel for, was also relying on a TESLA Model S saloon.
“The ride quality of the TESLA is quite remarkable and the electric four-wheel drive also ensures great handling on corners. It will be particularly exciting to keep an eye on the vehicles’ ranges during the race and to complete as many laps as possible here in Oschersleben,” said Pfister after doing the first electric training laps.
The “Eco-GP” took place for the second time in Germany.
After the race started at 4 p.m. on November 29, 2019, it was up to the teams and drivers to get round the track quickly but also efficiently to plan the tactics and charging times in the pits in the best way possible.
7th place in the 24H race secures the team victory in the European ranking!
The first part of the race was still in dry conditions but the drizzly rain and temperatures around freezing point that set in overnight in particular was to provide an additional thrill.
“I was at the wheel of the TESLA Model S during the night stint from 0.30 a.m. to 3 a.m. and was able to make the most of my experience from long-distance races contested in the past with my driving action during the night,” said Pfister.
In the overall ranking, victory was taken in the “Eco GP” European Championship!
“After a charging break, my team mates took the wheel again and we managed to get round the track quickly and efficiently. After a challenging 24 hours we were then able to cross the finish line with 412 completed laps in 7th place, which is a great success. These championship points even allow us to win this year’s European Championship! At this point I would like to thank “E-Motion” for the trust placed in us and the great teamwork, I’m already looking forward to the next electric race meeting, it was great fun!” says racing driver Andreas Pfister at the end of the 24 hour race.
